Use the keyword tool to search for different types of phrases that relate to your photography service you provide. Let’s say you are specializing in wedding photography and event photography. For people that are searching for “Chicago Wedding Photographer” you want to make a separate page for that particular group of people. Let’s say your URL is yourdomain.com, for every particular search phrase you are going after, make a separate page for that particular market. Example yourdomin.com/Chicago-Wedding-Photographer. The most important, would be to title your web page with the exact search phrase that is searched the most, which should be according to your particular keywords. Now the URL will have the three keywords we are going after and the title of the webpage will have the same. This will give you an advantage when it comes time for Google to position your page accordingly.




Keywords in Title

Some professional photographers are not well at photography, but they know how to market their photography business online and are making six figure incomes. When Google crawls your site, you want your title of your page to match the keywords you have chosen. The title of your webpage tells the search engine this is what your page is about. Remember each page is unique in its own way. Make different pages for the different keywords you are targeting. You want to target each page for one particular client base.


Keywords in Content

Another SEO tip is to use the keywords you are targeting in your content. Use social sharing buttons: Tweet, Like, Google+ and Pin. I do a lot of online market research and many test with SEO. Keywords in Alt Tags

Let’s talk photos on your site. You want to show off some of your best work. I see many photography websites that do not label their photos for Google. Label all your photos on your page the same as the title of your page. If your images are labeled they will have alt tags. Check if your photography website for alt tags, just go to view your HTML source code and hit command “F” on your key board and type “alt” and you will see if you have it labeled correctly.

Keywords in Meta Description

There are many other things you can do to optimize your photography website for the search engines. As your page gets ranked higher in the search results you will see more traffic or potential clients. Remember you have to grab your clients attention when your website is in the search results, having a higher click threw rate will move your photography website higher in the search results. With the snap shot below you can see the Meta Description. Make sure you have your keywords in the Meta Description. Some people will read this description before they click on a website. Try to add something that would get your customers to click on your website. Put yourself in your prospects shoes try to think like them. They are looking for a photographer in the Chicago area. You can put a special sale or price on a complete package. The more targeted and engaging you meta description is the better CTR you will have and this will drive you higher in the search rankings, don’t forget more clients also. 

When your potential clients will be searching the first page of Google they will be going to couple of different photography websites. Your next job will be to separate yourself from your competition. Most photography websites will look typically the same. If you look at some photography websites on the first page of major cities you will see that most of them have the same webpage design to them. They mostly have a nice photo album to look at. This is great but let’s take a look at it from the customers point of view. I’m looking for a Chicago Wedding Photographer, I will be getting married in the Chicago area. I use Google to find a photographer and I get some results. I start opening the pages on the first page to see what is out there. If all the pages are looking the same I will be going to a different one. From a marketing point of view I want to engage the prospects right when they land on my webpage. I will give you a very important tip for getting your prospects to convert into clients, make video less then 4 minutes and over 1 minute. What you want to put in the video is you doing your job.


Have someone video tape you when you are doing your next photo shoot. This will give the customer actual visual experience and engagement of you performing your photography service. This will plant a visual seed in the prospects head because that is what they are looking for, a photographer to do a photography service. When they actually see this in action they will call you if they like what they see. After the video is over add your phone number and do “call to action” tell them to call you or enter there information in a form below. When people are searching for your photography business they will only land on one page. You can make as many pages on your website as you want. The more pages you have the better. Link building is another important part for your photography website’s SEO. This is important its not the number of links but the quality. In my course I show you the best way to build the most targeted one way links possible. I will give you an example of a good quality targeted link. When you make your video for you website, let’s say our title is “Chicago Wedding Photographer” then title the video the same. Put a link on the bottom of that YouTube video back to the page with the same title.


As you can see the business of photography has changed. This is the same for every business now. Businesses that are focusing all their attention to online marketing are prospering. If you are not focussing your business marketing online then you will have a hard time prospering as a photographer. Photography websites are different then others. Photography websites have more photos and less content, thats is why SEO is harder on photography websites. I can tell you it can be done.

   

Let’s take a look at whats on the first page of Google. In the example below the green is organic traffic and the orange is paid search. Notice there are two green colors. The lime green is Google Places this is a whole new concept which I explain in my course. Your ultimate goal is to be all over here. When doing paid search you have to know what you are doing or you will just burn money. Clicks on Google are going for over $2 for photography business. If you watch the first free video in my course I show you the little things that make a difference when placing ads on Google. Google tracks the CTR for every kind of click. If you want to get on top for paid search the secret formula is that your title description has to be catchy so people will click on it. When you get more clicks you will go on top. You have to bid top dollar if clicks are going for $2.30 bid $2.50. This doesn’t mean you will pay that much its just the most you are willing to pay. If you are bidding $2.50 you will pay around $1.56 for each click. Bid high and have an engaging title to click on and you will be up there. Obviously you want to get organic results, but while you are working on those results you can try PPC and I would try PPV to see which one works the best for you.       

I would like to show you a photography business you can start that will produce a residual income. You can start this photography business with very little. All you need is a DSLR camera, tripod, and Photoshop. HDR Real Estate Photography or Real Estate Photography is very easy to get into as a photography business. There are a couple of good reason to consider this as a part time or full time photography business from home. Real estate listings that use photos taken by professional photographers with higher end DSLR cameras sell faster. Listings taken with point and shoot camera are less appealing to the buyer and show less. Better photos equal more viewers. More views on a real estate listing, the more bids and faster they sell the house. This will be your selling point when contacting real estate agents.

Obviously you have to have a great portfolio to show off. This will be your photography website. This is why in the beginning you have to photographer some houses for free to create a online photography portfolio. After you have landed one agency, that is selling 17 listing per month and you are charging $100 a listing, then this will be $1,700 per month residual income. This is just one client what you want to do is get as many as you can. As your photography website design you can try different ways of attracting clients. In one of my videos I show you how to do this on Facebook. When you advertise on Facebook you can chose demographics which Google doesn’t have. You would want to market your photography website to all real estate agents in your area. This can have a major impact on starting your real estate photography business.


Let’s say you live in Florida and you started a Real Estate Photography Business. You have a great website design setup with some of your work. You want to grow and expand your photography business to the next level. Your client base for this will be different. As you can see in the snap shot from above there are 76,680 potential clients you can target. This business can become very lucrative if you play your cards right. You can offer your clients HDR photos or regular photos shoots using your DSLR camera. When you are not using HDR photography, lighting becomes a major factor and you will have to invest in some lighting equipment for your business. The best practice would be to shoot free real estate listing for potential clients to build your online portfolio. You want to have something to show when approaching agents. Just remember every successful photography business takes time and passion to master. Photographers that make it are the ones that are passionate in what they do. Always educate yourself about the business of photography and techniques, don’t ever stop learning. Knowledge is the most valuable reassures. Always remember that your photography website is one of your most valuable assets. This will be what your potential customers will be looking at before they call you. After you have your website make sure you are doing correct SEO for you photography website. If people can’t see your great work they will never even get to chance to see your skill. Photography Marketing has changed in most ways since the internet. Remember when you use to look in the phone book for a service the person with the best ad always stood out. Now everything has changed back then the one that pays the most for that spot got the ad. Now if you want to have your ad on the first page of Google you can pay around $2 per click. It doesn’t cost anything to do SEO for your photography website.  It just cost time, but well spent. I can promise you this if you know how to use a DSLR and take good photos then spend your time on learning photography marketing. Make your photography website appealing to your clients. Know what they are looking for, make a short video on your web page to engage customers. Learn SEO, master it because its a fine art and well worth it. SEO is like a money printer, if you get your page to the top for your particular keywords you will have an abundant number of clients calling your on a regular basis. Whatever photography business you are in or starting just remember you have to know where your client base is and go after it, bottom line.

The reasons you should take the photos is HDR are that a HDR photos is more appealing when you look at it. Many home magazines show houses taken in HDR. Another good reason would be that lighting can be tricky when taking photos inside a house. With HDR you don’t need good lighting because you are taking photos that are over and under exposed. If you never shot a HDR photo then its very simple. It’s just three photos or more with different exposures. Overexposed, underexposed, and normally exposed. Then you would go into Photoshop and combined them together. This is another reason HDR real estate photography is great, you don’t need any lighting because you are using the light you have with exposure settings.


When searching for a particular real estate agency just Google let’s say “Miami Real Estate Agents” look for agents with higher property listing that are not using HDR photography. Contact the agent and explain what you can do for their business. Offer to take half their listing for free to experiment how much better the professional photos do. Make sure when you take HDR photos that they look professional don’t make them look like a fake cartoon photo. Take a look at some home magazines that show expensive homes. They have many great examples.

Every search term is different, if you add a “s” to Photographer(s) you will see that this search phrase gets 8,100 searches per month. The best thing to do is create another web page with the title “Chicago Wedding Photographers” to maximize your photography marketing.

When customers are searching for a photography service, they will use Google to search for a particular photography service. It will be your job to have your photography website come up when your customers search for your particular photography service. Finding your most targeted prospects for your photography business will be your first step. Start by using Google's Keyword Tool, to begin your keyword research. This tool will show you how many people are searching for a particular keyword or parse. Understand that by adding a letter at the end of a word can show complete different results. Try to think of what key phrases people would Google to search for your photography business.

You will want to focus all your attention on the keywords your clients will be searching for on Google. The more your page is focused on your targeted keywords, the higher you will show up on the search results. Remember, every page should be targeting one particular search. I see many professional photographers title their page with their name. Unless your are a very well-known photographer, people are not going to search for your name. Titling your webpage with the correct keywords can put you on the first page of Google instantly. Don’t change your existing title of your main page, just add another page which is called a sub-domain. This is very important, for some reason Google doesn’t like when you alter titles around in your website. Titles have a major weight in the search results. When a title is altered, Google thinks you are trying to mislead visitors. Just create a new page, this is actual better for you. Your website is where your customers view your photography portfolio and judge your photography skills. When a person lands on your webpage, it’s like they have entered your photography studio. Understand that marketing your photography business on the first page of Google with your particular keywords is half the work. When you reach the first page, you are competing with all the other businesses.

Another great SEO tip would be to label your headlines on your page with the correct keyword tags. Headline tags look like this “h1” and they go up to “h6” but the important one would be the main heading, which is the H1 tag. To see if your page has headlines tags, you have to go in your source code again. Understand that this is what Google is looking at to put you on the first page when someone searches for “Chicago Wedding Photographer.”

When you get your photography business on the first page of Google you will want to increase your Click Threw Rate (CTR). The CTR is how many people click on your site from the others shown. The chart below shows Google’s CTR for page one of search results. If you get the #1 spot on the first page your average CTR will be 36.4% this is because there are so many other things a person can click on, like the ads Google shows. You want to make it your ultimate goal to get that #1 spot. Sometimes just being on the first page is priceless, because of high competition.


How To Increase CTR

When you create your page you can first put your keyword in the title then use a catchy phrase for example “Low Price Match Guarantee.”

Example: Title of webpage----->  Miami Portrait Photographer - Lowest Price Match Guarantee

This will welcome people to click on your page and if they find a photographer with the lowest price they will call you to beat that price. Another way to increase CTR would be with your meta description like a mentioned above. Of course you want your keywords in there but you may also want to add “Complete Portrait Packages Starting at $199 with Photo CD.”
